Troubleshooting

Can't find the extracted folder

After extracting the ZIP, you should see a folder called filevine-extension in your Downloads folder.

Windows: Look for a folder, not a file
Mac: The folder should be directly in Downloads

Extension won't load

Make sure "Developer mode" is enabled in chrome://extensions/. The toggle should be blue/on in the top-right corner.

When clicking "Load unpacked", select the filevine-extension folder (not the manifest.json file).

Extension icon doesn't appear in toolbar

Click the puzzle piece icon in your Chrome toolbar, find "Filevine Document Viewer", and click the pin icon to keep it visible.

If not listed, verify the extension is enabled on chrome://extensions/

DICOM viewer not loading

The viewer activates automatically for DICOM files (.dcm) in Filevine. Try refreshing the Filevine page after installing the extension.

Make sure you have permission to view documents in your Filevine account.

AI features not working

AI features require an internet connection and communicate through our secure Railway proxy server.

Check: (1) Internet connectivity, (2) Filevine authentication is active, (3) No firewall blocking Railway

Can't switch between multiple Filevine sessions

Make sure you have multiple Filevine tabs open in Chrome with different organizations. Open the extension side panel to see all active sessions and click to switch.

The session switcher appears automatically when you have 2+ active Filevine tabs.

Automatic updates not working

Updates check every 5 hours automatically. You can also check manually by going to chrome://extensions/ and clicking the "Update" button at the top.

Make sure you have an internet connection when Chrome checks for updates.
